Sheltering in Place with Alpacas

Alpaca Ranching in the Time of Coronavirus

The Zena Suri Alpacas has been closed to the public since the day after St. Patrick's Day and we are sad--all of us--Tom and I, Kelli who works for us, the dogs and cats, and especially the alpacas who do not understand why the friends they adore no longer come to offer them grain by hand. Perhaps Stiggy the llama (who loves to strike a pose for selfies with them feels it most).
When visitors come, the alpacas and Stiggy always run in for a handout and a rub below the ears. Their personalities are like a cross between cats and dogs, sometimes aloof and ignoring any entreaties for contact and sometimes hungering for it.
